We’ve finally been let into the secret of layered lighting, so it’s not surprising to see that wall lights are having a moment.
And retailers are responding to this trend with more options than ever, from designer pieces to more affordable options and even rechargeable wall lights. But the problem is that many of these options are simply too bulky for the narrower rooms in our new build homes.
So for this New-Build Edit, we’ve rounded up our favourite indoor flush wall lights for narrow hallways, staircases and corridors in the UK. Carefully selected for their slim profile, each design adds ambience and character without protruding into your walkways.
So, if you’re searching for modern wall lights for narrow hallways or the best flush wall lights for stairs, these are the designs that made our shortlist.
1. Rechargeable pleated Flush wall Mounted light
DUSK | £29
A great option if you’re looking for a rechargeable wall light without compromising on style. The soft pleated shade and neutral finish make it easy to incorporate into almost any colour scheme. With it’s slim profile, it’s a practical choice for narrow hallways and staircases where space is limited.
2. Bronze Double wall light
Next | £50
This modern flush wall light casts light up and down, creating a subtle, layered lighting effect, perfect for hallways or staircases. The bronze finish adds warmth to modern interiors, while a brass version is also available if you prefer a lighter tone.
3. Antique brass Moon wall light
Pooky | £80
A timeless design that brings character to even the smallest spaces. Available in two sizes, this antique brass wall light for hallways sits just 9.5cm from the wall, making it a brilliant addition for narrow corridors and stairs where you want decorative lighting without sacrificing walkway space.
4. Linen Scalloped Flush Mount Wall Light
French Bedroom | £98
Although designed with bedrooms in mind, we think this elegant scalloped wall light would look just as beautiful in a hallway. The natural linen shade softens the light to create a warm, welcoming entrance, whilst the understated design would work beautifully to add character to modern new build homes.
5. Gathered Linen Wall Uplighter
Neptune | £99
If you’re looking for a flush fitting wall light, this gathered linen uplighter is one of our favourites. Sitting close to the wall, it gently creates a soft, ambient glow. The cotton-linen shade adds texture without overwhelming a compact hallway or staircase.
6. Ottino wall light
Lights & Lamps | £149
Inspired by Art Deco, it combines timeless styling with a soft, atmospheric glow. The natural linen shade brings warmth and texture, making it an elegant choice for hallways, landings and staircases. Its streamlined design is ideal for anyone wanting a statement wall light that still feels appropriate in a narrow hallway.
